Street Art and the London Tate Modern
The legendary Tate Modern opens its doors to "Street Art", consecrating it as a true art form with an exhibit from May 23 - August 25, 2008.
The unquestionable leader in modern art and English tourist destination, the British gallery presents a peerless exhibit in the former London power plant in addition to its acclaimed permanent collection.
It is the first time a large public museum will house "street art" attracting internationally acclaimed artists to a single event. Works will be on display from famous artists : Faile from New York, Sixeart from Spain, Nunca with Os Gemeos from Brazil and Blu, representing Italy, from Bologna. In addition to the exhibit you can also visit these artists' works on the "Street Art Walking Tour" in addition to refacing the Tate Modern with new creations.
Street Art includes different techniques, from video projections to spray painting, stencils and more, primarily illicitly utilizing public locations. It is art that substantially differs from graffiti and pure vandalism by conveying the artists' emotions.
Free admission to the Tate Modern event is sponsored by Nissan and Qashqai.
