Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs - London
These exhibition is expected to be one of the most visited in history. Tutankhamun, the boy king who died prematurely, left a treasure in his tomb that was discovered in an almost perfect condition by archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922. This treasure returns to London from November 15, 2007 to August 30, 2008.
The itinerant exhibition visited the United States and London between 1976 and 1979. Attracting some 8 million visitors, it gave life to a true cultural phenomenon that expressed the fascination "Tut" still had over people. The first exhibition focused above all on Carter's discovery, showing a limited number of findings coming from the Pharaoh's tomb. After one of the artifacts was slightly damaged, the Egyptian Parliament decided not to let them leave Egypt again.
The new exhibition, which after thirty years has once again brought the Pharaoh's treasures outside its homeland, was conceived in 2004 thanks to the collaboration of National Geographic, AEG Exhibitions and Art and Exhibitions International, and it is much larger and more complete than the first one: in addition to Tut's treasure, there will be artifacts from the Valley of the Kings, as well as a whole section to recent studies on the mummy of the young pharaoh, in order to offer a full view of the art and culture of Egypt at that time.
This exhibition, after resounding success in Los Angeles, Ft. Lauderdale and Chicago, now goes to London, ready to dazzle the public's eyes.
